Unlike other colour systems, the RAL CLASSIC colour register is not based on mathematical calculations. It is rather a collection of colours that are frequently used in industry and economy. The RAL CLASSIC colours are also used as a reference by public institutions and in tenders.
The identifiers
The RAL colours can be told apart using a four-digit number code. Each colour further has a helpful description to make using the colours easier (e.g. RAL 3000 = fire red).
The distribution
The RAL CLASSIC colours have become a form of German colour standard. Everyone who works with colours in Germany is familiar with RAL CLASSIC colours, and they are also prevalent abroad.
